Optical Sensors for Carrot Sorting

Customized Optical Lenses

The optical sorting machines have a strategic setup of high resolution color and NIR cameras that capture at very high speeds several images for each carrot from all its sides during their free fall. The optical sensors then send the images to the vision software which analyzes them in real time within milliseconds and actuates the finger rejection mechanism if a defect is detected.

Pulsed LED Lighting

Pulsed LED Technology

The carrots are exposed to different light frequencies by means of a pulsed LED light source. This method enables our system to collect instantaneously several images of the carrots under different light conditions in the visible and infrared spectrums. Thus, a comprehensive analysis of the defects present in the carrots can be performed and any irregularities can be detected even if they are not visible to the human eye.

Carrot Defect Sorting

Sorting for Carrot Defects

The carrot sorting machine examines the entire surface of the carrots under various lighting conditions to identify and remove the spoiled carrots with high precision, ensuring that you receive the best goods in your batch. Such defects include rot, mud, broken carrots, misshaped carrots, carrot bits, discolored products, and foreign objects.
